Pathologists' Assistant

Mass General Brigham is seeking a highly skilled Pathologists' Assistant to join our team in Somerville, Massachusetts.
This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, collaborating with experienced pathologists and other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Gross description and dissection of a wide range of surgical pathology specimens, ensuring accurate and detailed reporting.
- Formal instruction and training of pathology residents, medical students, and other healthcare professionals in surgical pathology techniques.
- Triaging tissue for different types of fixation or special studies, ensuring diagnostic viability and maintaining regulatory standards.
- Performing post-mortem examinations, including prosection of organ blocks and sampling tissue for histologic sections.
- Assisting senior staff in preparation of case materials and photographic material for research, conferences, and special studies.
- Entering data into the laboratory information system, assigning surgical pathology accession numbers, and editing patient charge information.
- Troubleshooting problems related to specimen mislabeling, missing specimens, and other clinical issues.
- Master's Degree from a NAACLS-accredited and AAPA-approved Pathologists' Assistant Training Program.
- PA(ASCP) certification required, with recent graduates obtaining certification within 1 calendar year from training program completion.
- Two or more years of experience in a similar role, with a preference for academic settings.
