Job Summary

The Archdiocese of San Antonio is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian Part-Time to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our parish facilities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for our staff, parishioners, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • **Clean and Maintain Facilities**: Clean and remove trash from all areas of the Church, including the Sanctuary, Family Room, Adoration Chapel, Sacristy, etc.
  • **Organize and Restock**: Re-organize the pews and missalettes after each Mass, Funeral, Wedding, etc.; restock supplies in the restrooms.
  • **Prepare for Events**: Clean all areas of the Parish Hall (Madonna Room) after events are held, including sweeping, mopping, removing trash, and restocking restrooms.
  • **Secure Buildings**: Ensure all buildings are secured before leaving at conclusion of shift.
  • **Maintain Grounds**: Keep parish grounds in good order and ensure grounds are clean and safe.
  • **Assist with Special Requests**: Accept requests from various department personnel for any services needed.
  • **Monitor Supplies**: Inform management of any low or depleted supplies needing to be re-ordered.
Requirements
  • **High School Diploma or Equivalent**: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • **Custodial Experience**: Experience with past custodial work or building maintenance preferred but not required.
  • **Communication Skills**: Possess both written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • **Confidentiality**: Understand the importance of confidentiality in interacting with parishioners, staff, vendors, technicians, and others.
Working Conditions
  • **Physical Demands**: Required to lift or carry furniture, equipment, and supplies; perform strenuous walking, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing, climbing, twisting, grasping, and reaching overhead.
  • **Environmental Factors**: Required to work with chemicals, exposure to dust, and slippery and uneven walking surfaces.
Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  2. Experience with past custodial work or building maintenance preferred but not required.
