We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a Nurse II - Direct Care RN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality medical care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who reside in our State Supported Living Centers.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide routine level nursing care to individuals with complex medical needs, including assessment, treatment, and documentation of healthcare needs and issues.
- Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including direct care staff, physicians, and administration, to ensure optimal care and coordination of services.
- Participate in facility quality assurance/quality improvement initiatives to ensure high-quality care and services.
- Assist with services provided by LVNs and Certified Medication Aides, as needed, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Respond to emergency situations to ensure safety and care of individuals and staff.
- Knowledge of nursing techniques and procedures, health care laws and regulations, medical diagnoses and procedures, and community health and nursing care principles, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to provide patient care, prepare and maintain records, interpret policies and procedures, and recognize patterns of medical necessity treatment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely in both written and oral communications.
- Ability to work independently and productively with all levels of staff.
