Magnetic Resonance Imaging Specialist

This position performs a variety of different MRI procedures to obtain diagnostic images. Follows established protocols as well as being able to make adjustments to set parameters on the operating console to compensate for different patient conditions all while keeping time in the gantry at a minimum while still producing high quality diagnostic images. Documents important patient history as related to the procedure. Prepares the exam room and tray set up for invasive procedures. Proficient at starting IV's to inject contrast media via an automatic injector and by IVP. Communicates well with other staff, creating an atmosphere of teamwork, as well as physician offices to ensure accuracy in order information contributing to the efficient operation of the department. Participates in accreditation and quality initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Perform MRI procedures to obtain diagnostic images, following established protocols and making adjustments as needed.
- Document patient history and prepare exam rooms for invasive procedures.
- Communicate effectively with staff and physician offices to ensure accurate order information and efficient department operation.
- Participate in accreditation and quality initiatives to maintain high standards of care.
- Satisfactory completion of a formal Radiologic Technology Program in a JCERT-approved school, meeting ARRT requirements.
- MRI registration or eligibility, with completion of registry within two years of employment.
- CPR certification or completion of next available class upon hire.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with patients, families, and staff.
- Interpersonal skills to work well under stress and in a team environment.
- Developed computer skills to learn and proficiently perform computer applications related to department operations.
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on patient-centered care.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to adapt to changing situations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information.
- Typical hospital clinical environment with frequent standing and walking.
- Work may be subject to interruptions and require flexibility.
- Risk of occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious hazards.
- Works with protected health information and maintains confidentiality.
- Ability to work any shift, including occasional extended hours, holidays, and weekends.
