Position Overview

Atrium Health Cleveland is a 241-bed facility dedicated to serving the greater Cleveland County area and its surroundings. We pride ourselves on being the first Level III trauma center in North Carolina, providing advanced emergency medical services. Our commitment extends beyond hospital care, as we actively engage in community health education and support initiatives like United Way and Relay for Life.
The Cleveland Progressive Care Unit encompasses 64 beds (32 per unit) catering to cardiac, medical, and surgical patients. This dynamic environment demands strong critical thinking, organizational skills, and thorough assessment capabilities. The PCU nurse collaborates closely with our cardiology and hospitalist teams, managing titratable cardiac drips, BiPAP, and post-operative care for patients transitioning from ICU. Our unit frequently encounters various diagnoses, with the top three being Dysrhythmias, Chest Pain, and Congestive Heart Failure. All patients are monitored via telemetry systems, ensuring constant oversight by our telemetry station.
Job Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse provides expert nursing care through meticulous assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation, adhering to established policies and procedures under the guidance of supervisors and managers. Responsibilities include:

Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to walk, stand, sit, lift, reach, stoop, bend, push, and pull. Candidates must be capable of lifting and supporting weights of up to 35 pounds when handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Proficiency in English communication is essential. Candidates should possess intact sensory abilities and demonstrate critical thinking skills. The ability to respond swiftly to changes in patient or unit conditions is necessary. Physical abilities testing may be required, along with additional department-specific physical requirements as determined by department leadership.
Education, Experience, and Certifications
A graduate from an accredited School of Nursing is required; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory per policy guidelines. A current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state of practice is required. Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be necessary based on departmental needs.
