Position Title: Secondary Mathematics Educator (Grades 9-12)

POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a dedicated and qualified educator to join our team. The ideal candidate must possess a valid California Single Subject Mathematics Teaching Credential and an English Learner Authorization / CLAD Certificate.

Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the Principal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver curriculum, instruction, and assessment aligned with the educational mission and vision of the organization;
  • Foster respectful and open communication with students, parents, and colleagues;
  • Support students in developing self-regulation, interpersonal skills, and self-expression;
  • Continuously assess student needs and implement strategies to address them;
  • Collaborate with fellow educators to design integrated curriculum;
  • Engage in weekly staff meetings to review school initiatives, student progress, and instructional practices;
  • Align instruction and student outcomes with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and Measurable Pupil Outcomes;
  • Adhere to the California Standards for the Teaching Profession;
  • Participate in professional development activities throughout the academic year;
  • Maintain a professional portfolio showcasing ongoing development;
  • Engage in reflective practices and peer evaluations;
  • Facilitate classroom observations for peer teachers;
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress;
  • Serve on at least one governance committee;
  • Ensure regular and punctual attendance;
  • Act as an advisor to students and refer any issues to the appropriate personnel;
  • Collaborate during grade-level meetings;
  • Manage classroom discipline effectively;
  • Assess student performance and submit grades promptly;
  • Organize and attend mid-term Parent-Teacher-Advisor Conferences;
  • Implement school-wide initiatives to achieve institutional goals;
  • Engage in professional development, including summer planning sessions;
  • Coordinate with the Principal on instructional strategies;
  • Create a comprehensive syllabus and collaborate on academic projects;
  • Provide basic computer skills instruction to students;
  • Maintain a positive and cooperative learning environment;
  • Develop daily lesson plans tailored to student needs;
  • Participate in conferences and retreats at least once a year;
  • Assist with accreditation processes;
  • Model positive behavior and set a strong example for students;
  • Supervise students during breaks and lunch periods;
  • Plan and organize events such as field trips with prior approval;
  • Recommend resources to colleagues;
  • Organize the classroom effectively for the subject matter;
  • Provide additional academic support as needed;
  • Respond promptly to requests from administration;
  • Implement behavior management plans consistently;
  • Enforce school-wide and classroom rules fairly;
  • Contribute to committees aimed at enhancing school goals;
  • Participate in school-wide activities during working hours;
  • Engage in ongoing credentialing and education;
  • Support monthly assemblies;
  • Attend parent meetings as both an individual and as part of the department;
  • Ensure timely submission of lesson plans during absences;
  • Utilize diverse and engaging teaching strategies;
  • Complete all required documentation punctually;
  • Demonstrate flexibility with scheduling changes;
  • Contribute to improving school culture through committee work;
  • Assist in creating the school’s master calendar;
  • Help develop class and supervision schedules;
  • Fulfill any additional duties as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree is required;
  • Possession of a California teaching credential is essential;
  • Preferred: Two years of teaching experience;
  • Demonstrated understanding of the organization’s mission and vision;
  • Willingness to fulfill all roles and responsibilities of the position;
  • TB Test clearance and Department of Justice fingerprinting clearance upon hire.
Evaluation:
Teachers will be evaluated according to the guidelines in the collective bargaining agreement.

Work Schedule:
  • 8-hour shifts;
  • Daytime hours;
  • Monday to Friday.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree (Required);
Experience:
  • Teaching: 2 years (Preferred);
Language:
  • English (Preferred);
License/Certification:
  • California Mathematics Teaching Credential (Required);
Work Location: In-person.
