Job Summary:
At 61st Street Service Corporation, we are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in Interventional Radiology. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess patients before administration of iodinated contrast for procedures with imaging studies, monitoring their condition throughout the procedure and obtaining necessary medical history.
  • Administer medication and intravenous fluids accurately and safely, in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards.
  • Establish intravenous access for the administration of contrast, medications, and intravenous fluids, as required.
  • Deliver intravenous contrast or other IV medications, including IV sedation, as ordered by the radiologist.
  • Conduct physical, psychological, and cognitive status assessments of patients, providing preprocedure instructions and reviewing lab results as needed.
  • Monitor patients intraoperatively and during postoperative recovery, making appropriate interventions or contacting IR caregivers for further instruction.
  • Initiate care and discharge plans for patients after invasive procedures, providing preprocedure and follow-up phone calls as required.
  • Identify and correct problems as necessary, reporting critical occurrences to the next level of authority.
  • Ensure that emergency equipment is properly maintained, restocked, and secured, in accordance with FPO guidelines.
  • Perform Point of Care testing and QA, as per POC guidelines.
  • Maintain medication, syringe, catheter inventory, and supplies related to patient care, as well as required checklists.
  • Manage medication records, security, and records related to each patient, ensuring correct narcotic counts and proper disposal of expired narcotics.

Requirements:
  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing required.
  • New York State RN License required.
  • Current BLS/ACLS certification required.
  • 1 year prior monitoring experience in Interventional Radiology or 2 years of ER, ICU, OR, Cath Lab, Telemetry, or Recovery Room experience required.
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to deescalate stressful situations required.
  • Ability to make sound judgments and execute appropriate actions based on patient needs and facility policies and procedures required.
  • Motivated individual with a positive mindset and exceptional work ethic required.
  • Basic proficiency in computer skills, including Electronic Health Systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, email systems, etc. required.
  • Ability to move around freely and assist in lifting physically compromised patients required.
  • Sufficient visual and auditory acuity to perform tasks related to patient care required.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, and walk intermittently throughout the day, as well as lift patients and supplies required.
