Overview: The Recreation Services Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing administrative functions related to various recreational programs and services aimed at enhancing community engagement. This role involves the planning, execution, and assessment of diverse recreational facilities and associated offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise the delivery of services across designated recreation sections.
  • Evaluate community recreational needs and develop innovative programs and services accordingly.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to establish and assess section objectives.
  • Maintain and analyze demographic and statistical data, preparing necessary reports for local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Prepare and oversee budgetary and financial documentation.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts and agreements related to recreation services.
  • Research and monitor available grants to support recreational initiatives.
  • Enhance community relations and customer service, mediating conflicts and enforcing organizational policies.
  • Develop and implement outreach strategies and promotional efforts to engage the community.
  • Oversee personnel management, including training, evaluation, and direction of staff in alignment with organizational policies.
  • Maintain effective communication with schools, parks, organizations, and agencies.
  • Assist in the development of new recreational services and coordinate various county-wide programs and events.
  • Participate in boards and committees as assigned.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Experience: Minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in recreation or a related area, including three years in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licenses/Certifications: A valid driver's license is required. Certification as a Parks and Recreation Professional is preferred.

Special Requirements: Must be willing to work beyond standard hours and adapt to frequent interruptions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of recreation management principles, including facilities and sports leagues.
  • Proficient in planning, developing, and implementing recreational programs.
  • Competent in PC operations and software applications.
  • Ability to independently address unique challenges and deviations in work.
  • Strong organizational skills to plan and execute recreational activities.
  • Effective training and supervisory skills for staff and volunteers.
  • Proficient in record-keeping and report preparation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Adept at establishing and maintaining professional relationships.
  • Administrative capabilities in budgeting, facilities management, purchasing, and personnel management.

Physical Demands: The role primarily involves sedentary work with occasional light physical activity, performed in an office environment. Duties may require standing or walking for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and using standard office equipment.

Work Environment: The principal duties are conducted in a general office setting.
