Recreation Therapist

MedStar Health is seeking a Recreation Therapist to join our team. The successful candidate will assess patients to determine appropriate therapeutic recreation treatment goals, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate therapeutic recreation treatment services for patients.
Evaluating and documenting patient progress and participating in interdisciplinary case conferences to monitor existing treatment plans and make necessary changes.
As a Recreation Therapist at MedStar Health, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population and contribute to the development of individualized treatment plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements discharge planning needs early by initiating patient and caregiver participation and equipment procurement.
- Documents in compliance with professional, agency, and payor requirements.
- Evaluates patients within a wide variety of settings, targets critical issues, and establishes a baseline and a plan of treatment that facilitates improvements in patient outcomes.
- Identifies limitations of patients, incorporates appropriate assessment tools and procedures, establishes measurable long and short-term goals, and determines how specific problems interfere with function.
- Incorporates patient and caregiver participation in treatment, goals, and discharge planning. Revises treatment as necessary for optimal patient improvement.
Requirements:
- Certification as a Recreation Therapist through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation.
- Must be able to acquire a standard driver's license.
- Experience as a recreational therapist preferred.
This position has a hiring range of $36.41 per hour.
