We are seeking a highly skilled Music Therapist to join our dynamic treatment team at Central State Hospital. As a Music Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing music therapy services to adults with serious mental illness, addiction issues, physical and intellectual deficits, and who have experienced trauma.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, plan, organize, and implement music therapy treatment groups and 1:1 interventions to enhance psychological, physical, cognitive, and social performance.
- Represent the Rehab Department as a member of the Treatment Team, completing treatment plans, and conducting assessments.
- Provide medical records documentation and data, as well as participate in special unit activities and work irregular hours as assigned.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams to provide functionally based, hope-promoting, and recovery-focused interventions.
- Music Therapy Degree (grad/undergrad) from an accredited school.
- Board certified or eligible to sit for certification.
- Valid Virginia driver's license.
- Ability to develop, plan, organize, and implement music therapy interventions, as well as manage aggressive/assaultive clients using approved Therapeutic Options techniques.
- Proficient in verbal and written communication skills, with ability to use Microsoft Office and other identified computer software successfully.
- Work/internship experience working with adults with mental illness, intellectual deficits, and physical disabilities.
- Experienced in evaluating, establishing treatment intervention, and assessing effectiveness of treatment interventions.
