Job Overview

An Industrial Pipe Fitter is responsible for the assembly, layout, installation, and maintenance of piping systems utilized in steam, fluid, or gas applications. The piping systems may encompass various components such as pipes, flanges, supports, valves, gauges, hangars, and angles. Pipe Fitters may operate in diverse environments, including construction sites, buildings, and enclosed structures like tanks or boilers. The role may also involve working in underground areas and at heights up to 300 feet.

Key Qualifications
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Industrial Pipe Fitter or Pipe Fitter Helper.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and possessing comprehensive knowledge of pipe fitting techniques.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills are essential.
  • Experience in industrial construction projects is required.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Interpret blueprints and specifications to ascertain the scope of work, including locations, quantities, and sizes of materials needed.
  • Identify all necessary tools for assigned tasks.
  • Recognize safety hazards and implement measures to mitigate risks.
  • Prepare, fabricate, install, and fit pipes according to specifications.
  • Install valves, hangars, supports, and flanges within piping systems in accordance with plans and relevant specifications.
  • Conduct tests to verify the integrity and quality of pipes and piping systems.
  • Utilize rigging equipment to hoist loads safely.
Reporting Structure

This position does not have direct reports; however, it involves collaboration with and occasional oversight of helper and labor positions, providing positional and expertise authority over these roles.

  • Proven experience in industrial construction and maintenance.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and manufacturer instructions.
  • Knowledge of pipe fitting processes for industrial piping and boiler components.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and manual dexterity.
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Commitment to safety regulations and company values.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous employment with Zachry Group.
  • NCCER Certification as an Industrial Pipe Fitter.
  • Formal technical education in a related field.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, and lift frequently.
  • Capable of lifting and moving up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
