Job Summary

Vanguard-IP is seeking a highly skilled Patent Agent or Technical Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our intellectual property team, you will be responsible for preparing draft patent applications, drafting responses to communications from the USPTO, and assisting in diligence matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare draft patent applications and responses to USPTO communications
  • Assist in diligence matters, including clearance studies and opinion work
  • Support technical aspects of litigation as needed
  • Undertake continuing education to stay up-to-date on current patent prosecution issues and trends
  • Evaluate and report on the technological aspects of inventions and other scientific matters
  • Communicate with inventors and Patent & Trademark Office personnel
  • Organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
Requirements
  • Prior patent prosecution experience
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering preferred with relevant research experience
  • Qualified to sit for the patent bar; preferably already licensed to practice before USPTO
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Strong investigative and problem resolution skills
  • Knowledge of principles, procedures, and standards for drafting patent documentation
  • Advanced working knowledge of research principles, methods, techniques, and resources
  • Strong interpersonal skills
