Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at Infojini. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing patient procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently implement patient procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards.
  • Explain the procedure and equipment to the patient clearly, and obtain consent before all procedures when necessary.
  • Provide for patient comfort before, during, and after procedure, and maintain an ongoing rapport with the patient throughout the procedure to ease any anxiety the patient may have.
  • Position patient and MRI equipment appropriately to the body part(s) to be imaged and adjust equipment settings accordingly to insure maximum information is obtained.
  • Use identifying markers appropriately.
  • Follow accepted MRI procedures, review patient information sheet, consider variety of protocols and rationale in determining positioning and technique.
  • Solve problems that arise during patient examinations using both technical knowledge and innovation.
  • Alter examination to maximize information in response to patient's condition, confer with radiologist, nursing, and other technologists concerning previous approaches utilized.
  • Assist physicians as needed during the course of the procedure.
  • Perform transmission and/or segmentation for transmission to PACS in a complete and proper anatomic display.
  • Generate high-quality hard copies of images when necessary.
  • Use efficient methods and complete examinations assigned in a reasonable amount of time.
  • Maintain cleanliness of radiographic area.
  • Prepare equipment and supplies in advance for future exams.
  • Recognize a medical emergency and notify nurse, MD immediately.
  • Demonstrate skill in equipment set-up, utilization, and proper maintenance procedure, perform visual and manual quality control checks of MRI equipment.
  • Use imaging and peripheral equipment in a safe and productive manner in accordance with prescribed hospital, departmental, and manufacturers' procedures.
  • Observe and report any malfunctioning of the equipment and notify appropriate persons in case of missing or damaged equipment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of proper use of computer product printers, i.e., label printers, report printers, etc., and minor adjustments to correct malfunctions.
  • Demonstrate skill in using the hospital and radiology information systems as they relate to radiology. Correctly choose appropriate patient information from PACS system in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Demonstrate ability to access patient information such as appointment times, type of exam, and patient reports. Follow departmental policy of documenting begin, complete, and departure times, when appropriate, in the RIS. Have working knowledge of film library functions. Demonstrate knowledge of the HIS and be able to access patient data for verification of orders.
  • Competent in scheduling exams in PACS from the order entry queue and/or demonstrate the ability to modify exams when necessary.
  • Maintain department log books in an orderly manner, record machine performance data as directed, all according to established departmental procedures.
  • Effectively assess patients' information and status, and plan appropriate procedure(s) accordingly.
  • Consult policy and procedure manuals and/or other reference materials as necessary to ensure actions conform to established protocols. Follow special instructions indicated on radiographic requisition. Recognize need for and follow isolation precautions.
  • Demonstrate skill in setup and administration of IV contrast media.
  • Explain MRI procedure and process of administration of contrast to patient and engage radiologist and/or LIP as appropriate per policy.
  • Make sure contrast media questionnaire has been filled out by patient. Assess any existing intravenous line or select appropriate venipuncture site and attach injector tubing to patient's intravenous line.
  • Load and program contrast media power injector according to established departmental procedures and assign appropriate injection rates based on access and protocol.
  • Ensure that all emergency equipment is readily available.
  • Inject intravenous contrast using the power injector and monitor patient for signs of contrast media reaction and/or evidence of extravasation.
  • Notify radiologist or LIP in case of reaction or extravasation.
Qualifications
  • 1+ years of recent MRI Tech experience
  • Radiologic Tech License - NYS, Am Registry of Radiologic Tech
  • ARRT Primary Certification/Registration New York State License (Radiologic technology)
  • AHA BLS Certified
