About the Role:

A key position within the Purchasing Team at Kalmbach Feeds offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the company's bottom line. This role requires effective collaboration between Purchasing, Nutrition, Operations, Pricing, and Marketing teams. As a Grain Procurement II, you will have the opportunity to identify new suppliers, sources, and logistics solutions based on market needs and opportunities.

This role focuses on purchasing grain from area farmers to be used in manufacturing feed. Daily tasks involve regular communication with farmer customers to discuss market factors and opportunities. Communication will primarily be over the phone, with face-to-face contact and relationship-building being essential skills. A strong understanding of the futures market and its mechanisms (futures, options, basis, spreads) is a valuable asset for this role. You will need to strategically position yourself in response to daily market changes, developing, managing, and selling various contracting strategies. Attention to detail is crucial for accurately tracking contracts and positions. Managing and maintaining supplier relationships and responding to customers' needs are essential tasks.
