Position Overview
Title: Lead Architect for Science and Technology
AECOM is in search of a Regional Lead for Science and Technology to enhance our Buildings + Places leadership team, focusing on expanding our professional services in the science and technology sector.
This role requires a leader with expertise in the planning, design, and execution of cutting-edge laboratory facilities, alongside a strong emphasis on business development and growth.
In this capacity, you will cultivate a multidisciplinary team of architects, engineers, advisors, and consultants across various offices, engaging with a national and global network of experts dedicated to delivering efficient and inspiring science and technology projects. We expect this individual to be a proactive seller-doer, responsible for executing professional project work, securing new business, fostering client relationships, and expanding AECOM's portfolio of premier science and technology initiatives. This position will report to the U.S. West Regional Director of Growth and will collaborate with market leaders throughout the organization.

Design Leadership:
- Oversee a multidisciplinary practice encompassing design, technical, management, business development, and marketing professionals.
- Inspire and mentor junior and mid-level architectural and engineering staff, as well as partner/sub-consulting design firms.
- Demonstrate design creativity and foresight in addressing routine and complex challenges, articulating objectives, and developing standards.
- Exhibit a passion for design excellence and integrity.
Business Development:
- Lead project pursuits and formulate successful strategies for new initiatives.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key clients and organizations.
- Provide thought leadership on significant programs and national initiatives.
Practice Building:
- Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages innovation and excellence throughout all project phases.
- Mentor and develop emerging design and technical professionals within the team.
- Demonstrate negotiation skills to guide projects to successful outcomes.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including 2 years in a leadership role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 15 years of experience in a leadership capacity within an architecture, engineering, or consulting firm focused on Science + Technology projects.
- Proven track record in business development and client relationship management.
- Professional License as Architect (RA, AIA) or Planner (AICP).
- LEED and/or Well accreditation.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with a recognized presence in the local market.
- Proficiency in software such as Revit, AutoCAD, MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
