Position Overview

The Lead Technician is tasked with the intermediate-level setup and management of audiovisual systems for events of varying scales within a hospitality context, ensuring utmost client satisfaction. This role reports to an Operations Manager, Operations Director, or Director of Event Technology.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Management


• Ensure precise and prompt setup, operation, and dismantling of audiovisual equipment.


• Address technical challenges and resolve issues swiftly as they arise.


• Adhere to all company security and safety protocols.


• Safeguard equipment against theft and damage during usage.

Client Engagement


• Deliver exceptional service, aiming to surpass the expectations of both internal and external clients.


• Act as a leader, mentor, and coach for fellow technicians, embodying Encore's commitment to World Class Service.


• Foster positive relationships with clients through effective communication.


• Meet with clients on-site to ensure their requirements are fulfilled and that equipment setups are functioning correctly.


• Monitor events and maintain communication with clients throughout the day.

Technical Expertise


• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of technical aspects and possess advanced skills to troubleshoot and resolve equipment and software issues.

Systems Proficiency


• Familiarize with company processes, adhere to procedures, and accurately complete systems entries and documentation.


• Utilize equipment sheets to identify scheduled equipment for setup and breakdown.


• Collaborate with other staff and external vendors regarding equipment needs.


• Enhance revenue through effective upselling techniques.


• Collaborate with clients to finalize billing.


• As necessary, engage with Encore systems and applications.

Job Qualifications


• High school diploma is required; an Associate's degree is preferred.


• Encore Technical Level 3 Certification is mandatory. New team members must achieve certification within 30 days of employment.


• Encore Technical Level Two Core Certification is required (Audio, Lighting, Projection, Video, Scenic). New team members must be certified by a qualified proctor within 60 days.


• 2-3+ years of experience in customer service or hospitality is preferred.


• 2-3+ years of audiovisual experience is essential.


• A valid driver's license is necessary for team members in roles that may involve operating company vehicles.


• Additional DOT requirements may apply if relevant.

Work Environment

The role is conducted in a hotel/convention center setting with moderate exposure to outdoor conditions and dust. Working conditions may vary from moderately quiet to noisy environments. Team members will utilize high-end audiovisual equipment and electrical components, and may work at heights using lifts and ladders. The position may require travel to various hotel locations. Working hours will include irregular schedules and on-call status, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Team members must comply with appearance standards as established by Encore based on the specific hotel or a representation of hotels in the area.

Warehouse

Work is also performed at event venues and in a warehouse environment. Team members must adhere to appearance standards as defined by Encore in both warehouse settings and during travel. In the warehouse, work will occur in conditions with exposure to outdoor temperatures and dust. Working conditions may range from moderately quiet to noisy. Team members may use high-end audiovisual equipment and electrical components. Working hours may include irregular schedules and on-call status, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
