Job Overview:

The Senior Energy Auditor and Trainer position is designed for a seasoned professional with extensive experience in home evaluations and energy product installations, adhering to established protocols.

This role requires the ability to effectively mentor, instruct, and guide both new and existing auditors in alignment with program standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Field Duties (approximately 85%):
- Onboard, mentor, and observe auditing personnel according to program expectations.
- Conduct independent home energy assessments as necessary.
- Ensure quality and efficiency in the installation of energy products.
- Evaluate insulation levels, perform diagnostic tests, and conduct safety inspections.
- Guide homeowners through energy-saving measures and inform them about available rebates and incentives.

- Provide insulation estimates during visits and educate homeowners on the significance of insulation and air sealing.

- Prepare and deliver completed Energy Fitness Plans to clients during visits.
- Accurately document all required data in program software.
- Conduct Quality Assurance Inspections and train staff on inspection protocols.
- Ensure that homeowners' educational needs are met.
- Manage inventory and restock equipment as needed.

Administrative Duties (approximately 15%):


- Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant software and serve as a resource for colleagues.

- Collaborate with supervisors to evaluate the development of auditing staff and trainees in both technical and interpersonal skills.

- Work with the training team to ensure uniform application of standards across all employees while conducting office training for interns and new hires.

- Partner with the training team to enhance field training practices through both hands-on and classroom instruction.

- Review potential auditor candidates with the training team to identify the most suitable trainees.
- Keep the training team informed about ongoing projects and training progress.
- Continuously monitor and instruct auditing staff to ensure adherence to best practices.
- Track the quality and thoroughness of all field audits.
- Engage in training focused on cultural competency, anti-racism, teaching methodologies, and technical skills in building science.

Organizational Support:
- Assist with additional tasks and responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:
- A two-year degree or technical certification, or equivalent experience is required.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, both in person and over the phone.
- Ability to independently manage tasks and prioritize multiple responsibilities.
- Proven experience in conducting residential energy audits is essential.
- A minimum of two years' experience in energy auditing is required.
- Must possess or be willing to obtain Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification.
- Demonstrated capability to perform quality assurance on energy audits and generate work orders.
- Ability to effectively convey building science concepts and train others.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are necessary in accordance with safety protocols.
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds and work in confined spaces such as attics and crawl spaces.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions is required.

Essential Skills:
- Proficient use of standard office equipment such as computers and photocopiers.

- Familiarity with building science diagnostic tools including blower doors and infrared cameras.

Occasional travel may be required, including overnight stays. Regular working hours will align with the Home Energy Squad schedule, which may include evenings or weekends based on assignments.

Compensation:
$30.29/hr
