Database Specialist Job Description

DigiFlight, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Database Specialist to support a government customer in a DevSecOps program operating in the SAFe Agile framework.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain complex databases with respect to access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection, and security.
  • Apply knowledge and experience with database technologies, development methodologies, and front-end and back-end programming languages.
  • Design, create, and maintain databases in a client/server environment.
  • Conduct quality control and auditing of databases in a client/server environment to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data.
  • Maintain database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures, file design and storage, and integration of systems through database design.
  • Perform remedial actions as necessary to ensure databases remain online and available to applications and users.
  • Work with application owners/developers to ensure databases meet their requirements for performance and availability.
  • Maintain information assurance (IA) security documentation and artifacts for SQL databases.
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience with Netezza, Oracle, SQL, PostgreSQL, and RDF.
  • Expertise with technical controls in the Risk Management Framework, as they apply to SQL databases.
  • Experience working on various operating systems and additional programming languages.
  • At least two projects in a large organization responsible for administering, operating, maintaining, and securing a large-scale computer database.
  • US Citizenship.
  • MA/MS degree with a minimum of 15 years of experience, or BS/BA degree and a minimum of 20 years of total experience.
