Compensation:

$17.32 per hour

Performance Incentives:

Available annually

Experience Adjustment:

1% of the base hourly rate for each year of verified relevant experience (within the last ten years), capped at five years

Educational Adjustment:

1% of the base hourly rate for an Associate's Degree or higher if not a prerequisite for the role

Employment Terms:

A11-b, 9.25 months

Full-time (32.5 hours per week)

POSITION SUMMARY

The role involves assisting certified educators and specialists in the oversight and instruction of students with special needs, implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and supporting students in their academic, daily living, and health-related activities. The position also includes alleviating teachers of routine clerical duties.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate's Degree or 60 college credit hours required at time of hire OR successful completion of the ParaPro Test provided by the district.
  • Willingness and capability to work with students requiring specialized instruction to achieve academic, social, and behavioral objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Word, Excel).
  • Capability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Organizational skills to prioritize tasks and adhere to classroom guidelines set by the teacher.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support the delivery of classroom assignments and reinforce learning objectives under the guidance of the teacher.
  • Assist in the creation of instructional materials and upkeep of the classroom environment.
  • Help collect data on student progress regarding academic and behavioral goals as directed.
  • Implement positive behavior intervention strategies for students exhibiting challenging behaviors.
  • Respond to behavioral issues in accordance with established intervention plans and district policies.
  • Provide assistance to students with personal care needs due to medical conditions or physical limitations.
  • Facilitate student transitions across the campus.
  • Monitor individual and small groups of students in various settings to ensure a safe and conducive learning atmosphere.
  • Maintain classroom and student equipment to promote safety.
  • Exemplify professional, responsible, and respectful behavior.
  • Perform clerical tasks to support the teacher in managing student records and preparing classroom materials.
  • Engage in meetings to enhance skills and share information.
  • Regular and punctual attendance is mandatory.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the educational environment.
  • May involve physical tasks such as lifting or moving light furniture.
  • May require outdoor exposure.
  • Physical demands may necessitate assistance from colleagues.
SUPERVISION:

Reports to Classroom Teacher, Site Administrator, and Certified Specialists.
