Job Overview

This is a crucial role in coordinating the primary functions of our Information Governance Operations team, managing both physical and electronic files, overseeing file intake and releases, handling destruction requests, data access requests, case room management, and records retention.

The ideal candidate will excel in organizing files and workflows and will take ownership of major projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Enhancement: Utilize a comprehensive understanding of information management, security, and privacy principles to identify opportunities to improve the Information Governance program.
  • Consultation & Training: Provide expert consultation to firm personnel on data storage locations, answer information governance queries from staff, lawyers, and other users, and deliver necessary instruction and training.
  • Process Coordination: Oversee all information governance processes, including file intakes, releases, destructions, and data access procedures, ensuring adherence to firm policies and completion of relevant processes.
  • Records Retention: Ensure compliance with records retention procedures, ascertain file retention requirements, and maintain precise records of file disposition.
  • File Management: Organize and manage physical and electronic files, adhere to offsite storage procedures, and prepare files within the records management system and other databases.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred. However, a minimum of five (5) years of relevant Information Governance or Records experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience: At least five (5) years of relevant Information Governance or Records experience, preferably within a law firm's Information Governance or Records Department. Experience in other law firm roles with significant document organizational responsibilities may also be considered.
  • Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of information governance, data security, and privacy principles, including best practices and procedures.
  • Skills: Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. Thorough understanding of physical and electronic resources and effective space management in office administration.
