Welder

Clayton Homes, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is seeking a skilled Welder to join our team. As a Welder, you will play a critical role in the fabrication and assembly of our homes.

• Perform custom MIG/TIG welding to fabricate and assemble various metal components
• Operate welding equipment, including electric arc welders, gas shielded arc welders, and gas welders
• Clean and degrease parts to be welded using wire brushes, grinders, or solvents
• Set up, adjust, and operate welding equipment, selecting the proper electrodes, gas orifices, filter rods, and/or torch tips based on the type of material being welded and desired bead size and penetration
• Fabricate and assemble complete devices or pieces of equipment using metal forming and cutting tools, such as presses, punches, brakes, pipe benders, and threaders
• Read blueprints and drawings for fabrication of designs
• Make repairs to tooling, equipment, and parts
• Process improvements of current equipment and designs
• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes as required
• Drive company vehicles as required
• Prepare fabricated designs and materials for shipment to plants
• Communicate needs for parts, equipment, and upcoming orders

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Technical school degree in Welding or equivalent experience/testing
• Five years or more years of welding and fabrication experience or equivalent
• Demonstrated mechanical ability and welding and shop safety knowledge
• Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for entire scheduled shift
• Ability to adapt quickly, maintain proficiency, and make sound decisions in a changing, fast-paced work environment
• Effective communication and listening skills
