Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Surgical Department, aligning with the hospital's mission and goals.
    • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards of care to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
    • Recruit, train, and develop a team of skilled nurses and support staff to meet the needs of the department.
    • Monitor and evaluate the performance of staff, providing coaching and feedback to improve performance.
  • Quality and Safety
    • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
    • Monitor and analyze data to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to address these areas.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
  • Financial Management
    • Develop and manage budgets for the Surgical Department, ensuring effective use of resources.
    • Monitor and analyze financial data to identify areas for cost savings and implement changes to address these areas.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Develop and maintain effective relationships with physicians, staff, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
    • Provide regular updates and reports to hospital leadership and other stakeholders on departmental performance and initiatives.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • License/Registration/Certification
    • Current RN licensure in the State of Iowa
    • Current BCLS, PALS, NRP, and ACLS certification
  • Experience
    • At least 3 years of clinical experience in a surgical setting
    • Previous management experience in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
    • Strong leadership and management skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions
    • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards
