Civilian Payroll Technician Job Description

As a Civilian Payroll Technician at the General Services Administration, you will play a critical role in providing payroll services to all GSA employees, Presidential Commissions, and various agencies. Your expertise will ensure the accuracy and timeliness of pay and leave accounts, while interpreting and applying regulations and policies regarding appointment entitlements, leave earnings, charges of leave, leave without pay, advance sick leave, and compensatory time.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform a full range of payroll duties, including determining proper application of pay and leave regulations, laws, rules, and agency policies.
  • Interpret and apply regulations and policies regarding appointment entitlements, leave earnings, charges of leave, leave without pay, advance sick leave, and compensatory time.
  • Review authorization documents and code the appropriate data for input to properly update each employee's master record.
  • Process pay adjustments that may involve transfers between pay systems with different pay, leave, and benefit entitlements and may be retroactive.
  • Answer routine and occasional non-routine procedural questions relative to time and leave laws, regulations, procedures, and resolve problems to ensure accurate and timely pay.
Requirements:
  • US Citizenship or National (Residents of American Samoa and Swains Island)
  • Meet all eligibility criteria within 30 days of the closing date
  • Meet time-in-grade within 30 days of the closing date, if applicable
  • Register with Selective Service if you are a male born after 12/31/1959
Qualifications:
