Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Sentara Healthcare. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our healthcare team.

Responsibilities
  • Perform patient care and administrative tasks as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Conduct phlebotomy (lab), clinical, and clerical duties
  • Bring patients into rooms, take vitals, verify patient information, and prepare them for the doctor
  • Work directly with a doctor to ensure the best care for our patients
Requirements
  • Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, or certified EMT (EMT-B, AEMT, or Paramedic) required
  • High School or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year experience in a healthcare setting or one year experience as an EMT, Paramedic, and/or Corpsman preferred
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred, plus experience with electronic medical records
