The Aquatics / Battle Challenge Specialty Counselor role at YMCA of Honolulu offers a unique opportunity to combine your passion for water activities with leadership and child development skills. As the Head Lifeguard, you will oversee pool operations, run in-services, and conduct drills for lifeguards. Your duties will also include planning and executing Battle Challenges, working closely with the Overnight Camp Coordinator. This position requires strong leadership abilities, enthusiasm, patience, a sense of humor, and self-control.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Supervise and support camp counselors, ensure they receive adequate time off, and assist with staff training.
  • Child Development: Develop positive relationships with youth, provide opportunities for new friendships and activities, and ensure a memorable experience for campers.
  • Programming: Lead skill tracks, operate programs within the camp schedule, and attend staff meetings.

Qualifications: Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree, lifeguard certification, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications, TB test, and ability to be physically active all day.
