Position Overview:
The Buyer plays a crucial role in procuring or subcontracting specialized goods and services, which may include commercial hardware, custom materials, and complex assemblies defined by various programs or product lines. The Buyer is responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of Purchase Orders and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the complete lifecycle of assigned Purchase Orders, including:
- Creation and management of Purchase Orders
- Coordinating timelines based on input from stakeholders
- Receiving inventory and ensuring timely supplier payments
- Source and acquire goods and services from a variety of suppliers.
- Generate and assess requests for quotations, evaluating pricing proposals to enhance overall cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance to assess and monitor supplier performance.
- Work with internal teams to review specifications and evaluate goods and services.
- Identify and implement strategies to reduce costs and enhance operational efficiencies.
- Employ sound business practices to evaluate supplier performance.
- Ensure proper documentation for the receipt of goods.
- Comply with all FAR regulations for government procurement.
- Engage with Engineering, Configuration Management, Industrial Operations, and Supply Chain as needed.
- Develop and manage replenishment strategies to optimize inventory turnover.
Additional Duties:
- Participate in special projects as needed.
- Support compliance and process improvement initiatives within the supply chain.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 years of experience in supply chain management, preferably in a buyer role under FAR/DFARS compliance.
- Alternatively, a Master's Degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
Experience:
- At least 6 years of supply chain management experience without a degree, preferably in a buyer role under FAR/DFARS compliance.
- Proven experience with FAR/DFARS compliant orders and complex negotiations.
- Experience in training and mentoring others.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in Deltek Costpoint or SAP; experience with both is advantageous.
- Ability to evaluate proposals and place FAR/DFARS compliant orders.
- Understanding of various subcontract types and their execution.
- Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated business acumen and presentation skills.
Travel Requirements:
- Up to 5% travel may be required.
Eligibility:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Clearance:
- Must be eligible for a U.S. security clearance in the future.
Work Environment:
- Engagement with internal and external parties on a daily basis.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical capabilities required for the primary responsibilities include lifting, carrying, and various movements.
