Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer II to join our team at Charter Communications/Spectrum. This role will be responsible for leading network engineering activities that maintain and enhance our telecommunications and signal processing hardware, software, and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Forecasting, planning, and identification of resource requirements for complex network systems
  • Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting capacity of network solution system utilization and performing growth analysis/capacity planning
  • Producing designs, BOMs, and A-Zs, monitoring, enhancing, and troubleshooting network systems in regional areas
  • Assigned complex and critical projects that involve several technical systems and constituents
  • Analyzing and revising existing logical service flows and documentation as necessary
  • Providing engineering technical support and guidance to regional personnel and ensuring all technical integration, changes, standards, and documentation requirements are met
  • Mentoring and guiding the work of junior and senior technical staff
  • Reviewing work plans and designs and advising on improvements
  • Producing and maintaining documentation on current systems to a level sufficient to ensure knowledge transfer and continuity of support
  • Identifying, assessing, and developing detailed requirements for upgrading networks, re-architecting network segments in order to facilitate new requirements, technologies, and growth
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field or related work experience
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of Network Engineering work experience
  • Proficient knowledge of IPv4 and IPv6 Networking, Routing (OSPF/BGP/ISIS/PIM) and Switching (STP/SVI/VLAN, IRB/BVI)
  • Proficient knowledge of multiple vendor OS (iOS, iOS-XR, JUNOS, SR OS)
  • Established knowledge in ticketing and Network applications such as Jira, Redmine, Aletheia, WAE, CA Performance Center, Netbrain, SharePoint
  • Knowledge of Optical platforms and ROADM technologies and topologies a plus
  • Knowledge of industry specifications and standards such as DOCSIS and PON/RFOG
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft software Suite with emphasis on Excel and Visio
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple objectives and initiatives
  • Must have good interpersonal skills, and the ability to relate well with both technical and non-technical professionals across a diverse workforce
Preferred Qualifications
  • Cisco Certified (CCNP, CCIE) - Industry and vendor-specific certifications and training preferred (Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, etc.)

This is a hybrid work model position, eligible to work in a combination of in-office and remote days. A qualified applicant's criminal history, if any, will be considered in a manner consistent with applicable laws, including local ordinances.

The base pay for this position generally is between $124,000.00 and $220,000.00, and the actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
