Role Definition:
The Behavioral Support Technician is a specialized role focused on delivering direct in-home support to individuals diagnosed with Autism and related developmental challenges, under the guidance of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). This position is crucial in helping clients achieve greater independence and safety within their communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement behavior intervention strategies and conduct assessments to identify client preferences and skill-building opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records and collect data in alignment with individualized behavior intervention plans and skill acquisition objectives.
- Support clients with developmental disabilities, who may also experience mental health challenges, in managing their behaviors and improving their quality of life.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Child Development, Communication Disorders, Education, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in behavior intervention services for individuals with special needs, including:
- At least 2 years of experience addressing severely challenging behaviors.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
- Experience working with intellectually disabled adults, preferably in Independent Living Skills (ILS) or special education.
Essential Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Demonstrated passion for working with diverse adult populations.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
- Completion of company-sponsored training and certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).
- CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
- Clearance for tuberculosis and Department of Justice fingerprinting prior to employment.
Primary Duties:
- Provide individualized, play-based instruction utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques.
- Travel to client locations to deliver services effectively.
- Participate in training sessions and team meetings as required.
- Implement and monitor behavior intervention plans, ensuring adherence to client-specific goals.
- Prepare educational materials for Independent Living Skills training sessions.
- Assist clients in various life skills, including money management, nutrition, and emergency procedures.
