Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced HSE Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective execution of safety strategies, coaching staff and supervisors in leadership behaviors, and identifying and evaluating hazardous conditions and practices.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement safety strategies to meet business goals
- Coach staff and supervisors in leadership behaviors to improve communication, safety behaviors, and activities on the shop floor
- Anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices
- Apply and use the hierarchy of controls to eliminate hazards and reduce risks in the facility or site
- Implement, administer, and advise others on hazard control programs for their respective plants
- Monitor legislative changes and make recommendations based on their potential impact to the business
- Perform safety evaluations, site-level self-audits, run site safety committees, and ergonomics programs
- Perform instructor-led training for EHS courses, as required
- Minimum of a BA/BS degree in occupational safety, science, engineering, or a related discipline
- Three to five years of prior experience in a manufacturing setting working in a Health and Safety role
- Professional EHS certification desired
- Proven leadership skills in a manufacturing environment
- A team player who can lead by example and influence
- Sound, comprehensive knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations
- Detailed understanding of general industry standards and knowledge of basic health and safety concepts
- Ability to chair management/employee meetings and presentations
- Above-average communication skills to enable the transfer of clear and concise information at all levels of the organization
- Ability to facilitate the process of learning amongst supervisors and the shop floor
