Role Summary:

The Mid-Level Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) is responsible for overseeing and facilitating the security measures associated with the NAVINTEL ICD 503 Risk Management Framework (RMF) Implementation Policies and the Department of Navy (DON) Cybersecurity Policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and support the security aspects of RMF implementation and compliance with DON Cybersecurity directives.
  • Conduct automated security assessments utilizing tools such as Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) and Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP). Analyze and document findings to ensure successful security certification testing.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for cybersecurity issues related to assigned systems, reviewing audit logs and ensuring adherence to security policies.
  • Research and evaluate products and services to ensure compliance with security requirements set by various national intelligence and defense authorities.
  • Document security assessments, risk evaluations, and compliance activities, ensuring that all necessary documentation is prepared for project tasks.
  • Collaborate with system owners and engineering teams to compile evidence required for the RMF process and secure Authorization to Operate (ATO).
  • Prepare security documentation to support project tasks and ensure successful completion of security testing and evaluations.
  • Manage systems accreditation processes, maintaining documentation and tracking any outstanding actions necessary for compliance.
  • Monitor and report on all security activities, ensuring alignment with the ICD 503 RMF process.
  • Engage with external organizations to facilitate product certification and testing.
  • Develop and maintain security testing plans and procedures specific to the organization.
  • Provide insights during project planning and execution, ensuring that security milestones are met.
  • Deliver technical training and briefings to various stakeholders, ensuring awareness of cybersecurity policies and practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in information systems security.
  • Possession of IAM Level II Certification.
