Job Summary

The City of Reno is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Police Sergeant to join our team. As a key member of our law enforcement department, you will be responsible for supervising and leading a team of police officers, ensuring the safety and well-being of our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead a team of police officers, providing guidance and support to ensure effective law enforcement operations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve police services and community engagement.
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and community organizations to address public safety concerns.
  • Conduct investigations and gather evidence to support law enforcement operations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community members, businesses, and other stakeholders to build trust and support for our law enforcement efforts.
Requirements
  • Five years of experience as a confirmed police officer in the Reno Police Department.
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound judgments under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions

The Police Sergeant will work in a field and office environment, with regular travel to different sites. The position requires the ability to work in a variety of weather conditions, including inclement weather, and to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight.
