We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician - Certified to join our team at Appalachian Regional Healthcare, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support in the pharmacy, assisting with the outpatient and inpatient drug distribution system, and preparing sterile products.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine office duties, including answering phones, taking messages, and distributing mail.
- Operate office machines, such as computers, printers, and scanners.
- Maintain and retrieve departmental files, including correspondence, licenses, and drug information.
- Assess and coordinate workload to maximize productivity.
- Perform distribution and billing functions in the unit dose drug system.
- Conduct inventories, order and receive goods, and maintain records of status of orders.
- Stock drugs on shelves or in storage areas and rotate stock to prevent expired drugs.
- Complete automated dispensing machine tasks, including filling, loading/unloading, and generating reports.
- Demonstrate competencies in compounding sterile products as necessary.
- Maintain crash cart and emergency medication supplies.
- Enter medication orders, credits, charges, and floor stock usage.
- Maintain comprehensive drug references and provide medication information as necessary.
- Update patient profiles for pharmacist review.
- Repackage and label medications for later use.
- Assist with the drug distribution system by delivering medication orders or prescriptions.
- Stock the pharmacy with required supplies and maintain aseptic work environment.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Six to 12 months of pharmacy experience preferred.
- National Technician Certification.
- Registration with the Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician (Kentucky and West Virginia) or technician trainee (West Virginia only).
- Complete Pharmacy math and computer proficiency exams.
- No history of alcoholism, drug addiction, or indiscriminate use of habit-forming or dangerous drugs.
- No felony/criminal record.
