Job Summary:

The Machine Setup Specialist will be responsible for setting up and operating various Cold/Hot header machines to perform operations such as forming, shaping, cutting, and piercing on metal wire and bar stock. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of machine shop theory and be able to interpret complex blueprints and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Machine Setup and Operation: Set up and adjust various types of Cold/Hot header machines to required specifications, making adjustments to diameters, grip lengths, and depths to tolerances of ±0.0007.
  2. Material Handling: Load wire or bar stock, position, and secure to holding devices, verifying feed position and selecting machine speed, tooling, and other variable tasks as required.
  3. Production and Quality Control: Operate Cold/Hot header machines to complete various operations, maintaining visual checks of work in progress to ensure proper functioning of equipment and securing necessary inspection approvals.
  4. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Provide necessary counts, process documentation correctly, and maintain daily production logs using computer software applications or production worksheets.
  5. Teamwork and Communication: Work as an active team member, participating in problem-solving, team-building, and other team activities to improve processes, productivity, quality, and safety.
Work Environment:

The Machine Setup Specialist will work in a machine shop environment with possible hazards related to cuts, bruises, finger and hand injuries, muscle strains, and burns. The ideal candidate will be able to lift up to 50 pounds, have strength to adjust equipment to set-up specifications, and be able to reach, bend, and stretch.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated ability to read and write English of a level required in Company shop documents and computer software entry and processing requirements.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations using fractions, decimals, trigonometry, and geometry as required by cell machining operations.
  • Equivalent to journeyman trade school graduate in the set-up and operation of Cold/Hot heading machines.
  • 4 years of work experience or equivalent skills and knowledge expertise in the set-up and operation of various Cold/Hot Header machines, tools, and equipment.
