The Virginia Department of Corrections is seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Corrections Officer at the Haynesville Correctional Center. As a Corrections Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of the public, staff, and supervisees within the facility.
Key Responsibilities- Provide security and custody of adult supervisees within the facility and during transportation
- Supervise daily activities of supervisees, observing and recording their behavior and movement to ensure safe and secure confinement
- Interact with visitors, staff, supervisees, and the public to maintain orderly and secure operations
- Contribute to the public safety mission by providing effective and safe custody and control, as well as compliance with policy and procedure
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to read and comprehend workplace policies and procedures, as well as prepare workplace reports and documentation
- Ability to lawfully possess a firearm in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Ability to successfully complete all pre-employment requirements, including medical screening, background check, and drug testing
- Stable employment history
- Military or related criminal justice experience
- Spanish speaking applicants are encouraged to apply
