This position involves collaborating with a dedicated team to safely remove, remediate, and recycle various types of waste. Specialists are integral to on-site operations, including the dismantling of hazardous materials and participating in emergency response efforts following environmental incidents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the handling of hazardous and non-hazardous materials, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Conduct regular pickups and transport of regulated waste to designated storage facilities.
- Assist in the staging, profiling, and processing of waste for proper disposal.
- Provide training and guidance on RCRA regulations to waste generators.
- Operate and maintain all necessary equipment issued by the government.
- Compile and submit surveillance reports for all serviced locations.
- Maintain accurate logs of working hours in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Participate in the Environmental Spill Response Team, including after-hours cleanup as needed.
- Support sustainability initiatives, including recycling and waste reduction efforts.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in environmental services or a related field.
- Completion of 40-hour HAZWOPER training is mandatory.
- A valid driver's license is essential.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Word.
- Ability to pass annual drug and alcohol testing.
- Must pass Fit for Duty and respirator tests annually.
- Knowledge of DOT training requirements and OSHA standards.
- Ability to operate mobile equipment safely.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Physical capability to lift heavy objects and work in various environmental conditions.
