Your Role at Viasat:As a Ground Station Technical Support Engineer, you will join a team of experienced professionals within our Technical Services unit in the Antenna Systems Division. This position has emerged due to our robust business growth and innovative strides in developing high-capacity SATCOM solutions for commercial, governmental, and military sectors.
Key Responsibilities:In your role as a Ground Station Technical Support Engineer, you will provide essential technical assistance to our SATCOM earth station clients around the globe. Your exceptional interpersonal skills will be vital as you engage directly with customers, while your ability to independently troubleshoot and identify the root causes of issues will ensure minimal downtime for our clients. Collaborating with the engineering team at our headquarters will be crucial for swift issue resolution tailored to customer requirements.
Qualifications:- A minimum of 5 years of relevant field experience
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent practical experience
- Proven expertise in leading technical troubleshooting efforts during emergency equipment restoration in ground station environments, covering a variety of equipment from ACUs and up/down converters to antennas and IP devices
- Demonstrated experience in providing remote technical support, diagnosing issues independently, and delivering both temporary and permanent solutions promptly
- Familiarity with setting up, configuring, and troubleshooting LAN and other IP systems at client locations
- Willingness to work extended hours in high-pressure situations until customer issues are resolved
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- A self-motivated individual with a proactive approach to tasks and an ability to adapt to new and dynamic scenarios
- Must possess US citizenship
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience with Viasat-specific products
- Educational background, training, or hands-on experience related to satellite communication systems operation
- Direct experience in the installation and repair of satellite earth stations
- Advanced problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot issues thoroughly and implement both short- and long-term solutions
- Capability to perform well under pressure and communicate effectively with customers
- Experience with ticketing and workflow tools such as Sales Force or ServiceNow
- Eligibility to obtain Secret or Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility
The annual salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $139,600. At Viasat, we consider various factors when determining compensation, including the role's scope, your background, and experience level. Base pay may vary based on job-specific knowledge, skills, and experience.
