Job Summary

The Building Electrical Group at Dennis Group is responsible for designing and building electrical systems for our food and beverage production facilities. We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design and delivery of electrical systems for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design electrical systems for building power, including normal, emergency, and standby power distribution systems
  • Document all necessary calculations for the design, including short circuit, selective coordination, arc flash, and generator sizing
  • Manage project document organization and maintain accurate records
  • Understand and apply Ohm's Law, AC/DC, electric and magnetic fields, and power system theory
  • Design lighting for food processing spaces, including lighting calculations for emergency and inspection lighting level needs
  • Coordinate fixture placement/mounting with other trades
  • Design fire alarm systems per NFPA 72, 101, and local building code
  • Specify means and methods for electrical systems, including grounding, start-up, and low voltage systems
  • Create power plans, one-line and panel schedules, and define fire alarm requirements
  • Review scope with clients and create and manage needs lists
  • Produce bid documents, including layout drawings, one-line, riser, schedules, details, and specifications
  • Procure long lead light fixtures and power distribution equipment
  • Perform short circuit calculations and estimate weights of main tray/trapezes and equipment
  • Assist in managing electrical bid process for clients and observing construction
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 4-7 years of work experience in electrical systems for building power
  • 4-7 years of work experience in designing lighting, fire alarm systems, and low voltage systems for building spaces
  • 4-7 years of work experience in electrical bid documents and procuring electrical materials and equipment
  • 4-7 years of work experience in AutoCAD, Revit, or other related design programs
  • Relevant work experience in a manufacturing or construction setting preferred
  • PE tracked desirable
