Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Produce Quality Control Specialist to join our team at US Foods, Inc. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of our fresh produce products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and Evaluate Fresh Produce: Conduct daily inspections of all incoming fresh produce deliveries and existing produce inventories to ensure product meets established quality specifications.
  • Make Quality Decisions: Make decisions to accept or reject fresh produce at receiving and ensure appropriate processes are followed that are consistent with PACA laws when a rejection is necessary.
  • Collaborate with Warehouse Management: Work directly with warehouse management to identify and address food safety concerns and maintain records of inspections.
  • Communicate with Replenishment Lead: Communicate daily with the replenishment lead and warehouse manager on all issues related to fresh produce and make recommendations on dump and damage or repackaging.
  • Verify Purchase Order Quantities: Verify Purchase Order quantities and inspect quality for all inbound perishable loads.
  • Inspect Inbound Trucks: Inspect all inbound trucks for signs of pest and rodents before unloading.
  • Ensure Compliance with SOPs: Ensure compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures pertaining to receiving, storage, and shipping of fresh produce and identify any issues to warehouse management.
  • Document Temperatures: Document temperatures of all inbound loads and report to warehouse manager and replenishment lead any violations.
  • Perform Daily Quality Inspections: Perform daily quality inspections for all fresh produce items in inventory and check for proper rotation of all produce inventory.
  • Complete Daily Dump and Damage Report: Complete daily dump and damage report and give to warehouse supervisor or inventory control.

Requirements

  • Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Related Experience/Requirements: Min 2 years experience in produce or other perishable receiving and inspection required.
  • Working Knowledge: Working knowledge of USDA Specs, Grades and Standards Required.
  • Technical Proficiency: Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant applications/hardware.
  • Ability to Lift: Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Team Player: Team-player – flexible and willing to learn new things and adapt as the business evolves.
