Job Overview
We are seeking an exceptional Special Education Educator to join our team. As a key member of our educational community, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our students.
Key Responsibilities
- Enrollment Support: Collaborate with colleagues to facilitate new student enrollment through targeted recruitment and outreach initiatives.
- Personalized Learning Plans: Develop tailored plans that cater to each student's unique needs, goals, and aspirations.
Retention and Academic Success
- Student Advisement: Provide ongoing support and guidance to assigned students, fostering open communication and collaboration with their support teams.
- Academic Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess students' attendance, academic performance, and overall well-being to ensure consistent engagement and success.
Achieving Academic Excellence
- Instructional Expertise: Deliver subject-specific instruction in individual and group settings, ensuring students stay on track toward course completion and mastery of material.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct both formative and summative assessments to evaluate students' progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
- Data-Driven Instruction: Analyze and utilize data to inform instructional decisions, enhance student outcomes, and drive continuous improvement.
- Accommodations and Support: Demonstrate a deep understanding of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Exceptional Student Education (ESE), and English Language Learner (ELL) accommodations, supporting students' progress toward annual goals and objectives.
- Remediation and Enrichment: Provide targeted support and activities for individuals or small groups based on their specific needs.
- School Initiatives: Contribute to the success of academy-wide initiatives, including data reviews, professional development workshops, and school/community events.
Empowering Students and Staff
- Collaborative Teamwork: Work closely with colleagues to develop personalized learning pathways, behavior improvement plans, and transition strategies to enhance student achievement.
- Community Engagement: Participate in academy-wide meetings and represent the academy in community events to foster connections and advocate for student success.
- Mission Alignment: Perform other responsibilities as needed to support the academy's mission and goals.
What We're Looking For
- Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree required; Florida educators license with a secondary ESE/Special Education endorsement required. 2+ years of teaching experience preferred, with high school experience a plus.
- Skills and Qualifications: Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on inclusivity and collaboration. A passion for supporting at-risk youth and fostering academic and personal breakthroughs is essential.
