ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
As a State Dog Warden, your core responsibilities will involve enforcing the Pennsylvania Dog Law, the Rabies Law (Act 181), and other pertinent regulations. Your duties will include:
- Inspecting dogs to confirm their licensing status as required by state law.
- Addressing reports of dogs running loose and investigating dog bite incidents.
- Implementing quarantines to protect public health.
- Conducting inquiries to resolve claims related to damages caused by dogs to livestock or poultry.
- Preparing detailed reports for compensation claims.
Additionally, you will investigate suspected illegal activities concerning the transportation or euthanization of dogs and monitor out-of-state dealers. Your role will also require you to:
- Research and evaluate unlicensed kennels.
- Respond to complaints regarding illegal operations and violations of the Dog Law.
- Conduct thorough investigations into inhumane conditions in kennels, culminating in comprehensive reports of your findings.
WORK SCHEDULE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Full-time position.
- Standard work hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute lunch break.
- This position will be home headquartered in Butler County.
- Salary: Starting salary may be non-negotiable in certain cases.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Experience and Training:
- Two years of experience in dog law enforcement, animal control, animal welfare, or related fields; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- Possession of a valid motor vehicle license is mandatory.
Additional Requirement:
- Ability to perform essential job functions is necessary.
