Nursing Development Specialist RN

About the Role:

This is a unique opportunity to support the Transition to Practice of new graduate nurses and coordinate educational offerings to promote ongoing staff development. As a Nursing Development Specialist, you will work closely with our team to provide service group educational support to clinical staff and focus on staff clinical development and expertise.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess the learning needs of staff and assist them in developing a personal professional growth plan.
  • Plan and operationalize educational activities to meet the educational needs of staff and provide individualized and group activities to support growth in clinical expertise based on research and evidence base knowledge.
  • Use appropriate tools to measure the adequacy of learning and absorption/application of information and remediates as necessary.
  • Act as a consultant for individuals and groups regarding methods of educational delivery, curriculum development, and evaluation strategies.
  • Differentiate the types of issues that lend themselves to educational intervention and provides learning opportunities for those that are truly learning deficits.
  • Assist staff in planning for formal educational growth opportunities, such as going back to school, attending conferences, etc.
  • Prepare learning materials for specific educational activities using theory and practical considerations.
  • Reviews materials before utilization for adequacy, accuracy, currency, and evidence base.
  • Evaluates learning materials for inclusion and utilization for education needs both for individuals and groups.
  • Provides coaching for the use of the internet and other modalities for obtaining knowledge and learning opportunities.
  • Works with Patient/Family and Community Education to identify patient/family and community learning needs and assist in providing learning activities.
  • Coordinate learning activities with Employee learning and Employee Advancement departments as appropriate to support organizational efforts.
  • Maintains own expertise in teaching/learning and clinical competency.
Requirements:
  • A Master's Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Upon hire, a Registered Nurse License is necessary.
  • Three years of experience in nursing leadership including clinical experience in associated service line area is needed.
