Position: Electrical Cost Estimator

Ideal Candidate Profile

1. Minimum of 6 years in electrical contracting.

2. At least 4 years of experience in project planning is preferred.

3. High School Diploma or equivalent qualification.

4. Training from a vocational school or technical college in electrical fields or related areas.

5. Possession of a Massachusetts Journeyman or Master Electrician license is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed project cost estimates and bids based on client specifications.
  • Establish and nurture key client relationships to ensure long-term business partnerships.
  • Conduct take-offs and estimations from drawings or sketches in accordance with company standards.
  • Perform on-site inspections for project assessments, installations, repairs, and additional work.
  • Secure competitive pricing estimates from suppliers relevant to project needs.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer and Project Manager to assess manpower and efficiency for various tasks.
  • Develop and implement production and installation schedules, along with comprehensive work instructions in conjunction with the Project Manager.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Project Manager throughout the project lifecycle to evaluate labor and material requirements for future reference.
  • Document all necessary permits, certificates, bonds, and insurance policies in compliance with local, state, or federal regulations.
  • Conduct site visits as necessary to verify critical dimensions.
  • Engage in post-project analysis with the Project Manager and Chief Operating Officer.
  • Prioritize client satisfaction and support throughout the project.
  • Utilize CRM software to keep customer information updated and facilitate project follow-ups.
  • Encourage excellence at all project stages through regular reviews and feedback.
  • Review proposals with the Project Manager and Chief Operating Officer before submission.
  • Follow up on bids until contracts are awarded, and gather insights on competitors for future opportunities.
  • Participate in company activities, meetings, and cross-departmental teams as assigned.
  • Undertake additional tasks as directed by the Chief Operating Officer.

Additional Qualifications

· Strong knowledge of commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential electrical systems and wiring methods.

· Familiarity with building codes and wiring standards for bidding purposes.

· Ability to read and interpret technical plans and blueprints.

· Proficient in using estimating software.

· In-depth understanding of the National Electric Code and electrical calculations.
