This position can be filled at either the engineer or senior engineer level, depending on the candidate's experience and our internal guidelines.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a technical authority in Siemens TIA Portal, Zenon, AVEVA PI, and possess strong electrical knowledge, making informed technical decisions regarding these systems. Familiarity with DeltaV is advantageous.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise in facilities, utilities, and secondary manufacturing process equipment, including filling lines, freeze dryers, isolators, automatic visual inspection systems, autoclaves, and HVAC systems.
  • As the System Owner, ensure the operational engineering of computerized systems in the assigned plant is both available and cost-effective.
  • Provide technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) support and training to various departments, including Manufacturing, Engineering, CSV, MSAT, MES, and Quality, regarding the operation of automated equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with cGMP procedures, including operational SOPs, GAMP5, and Data Integrity ALCOA+, as well as EHS directives and Lonza standards.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts and technical analyses on manufacturing equipment and process automation systems, encompassing software, electrical, and operational technology.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for systems by leveraging data and collaborating within Lonza's network.
  • Contribute to the advancement of the plant's capabilities, including initiatives related to Industry 4.0 and robotics.

Key Requirements:
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or Industrial IT (HF, FH, Dipl. Ing. / M. Sc. / B. Sc.)
  • Extensive experience with Siemens (TIA Portal) and/or Zenon.
  • Proven experience in vertical integration at the plant level (PLC, ThinClient, SCADA, DCS).
  • Experience in Secondary Manufacturing and collaboration with major equipment suppliers (filling lines, isolators, freeze dryers, washing machines, autoclaves).
  • Experience working in a GMP environment.
  • Fluency in both German and English.
