Position Overview:

This role is designed for a qualified professional dedicated to addressing the psychological and social challenges faced by adults experiencing psychiatric emergencies.

This position is integral to a community-focused, recovery-oriented team that delivers preventive and intervention services to adults voluntarily seeking help during a psychiatric crisis.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, family members, and other service providers to effectively manage acute crises of adults brought to the facility.
  • Work alongside healthcare professionals to assess and identify the medical, psychological, and social needs of individuals in crisis.
  • Engage clients in discussions to determine suitable community resources that can aid in their stabilization and enhance their quality of life.
  • Connect individuals and their families with relevant community services that address the root causes of their mental health crises.
  • Provide ongoing counseling and follow-up to ensure seamless access to community services until the crisis is resolved and the client achieves their immediate goals.
  • Facilitate peer support group sessions to foster community and shared experiences.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of individuals in immediate psychiatric distress, focusing on their strengths while identifying urgent psychiatric and social concerns.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and manage consumer files in compliance with agency policies and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in team meetings to strategize on addressing ongoing client concerns and improving service delivery.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with other service providers in the local area.
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate service quality and overall program effectiveness.
  • Assist in leadership roles within the team, ensuring that all activities align with recovery-oriented practices; support the training of new staff and occasionally lead team meetings.
  • Provide community education on crisis management and the mental health service landscape.
  • Perform duties as mandated under relevant state statutes concerning psychiatric emergencies.
  • Offer clinical supervision to staff in accordance with state regulations.
  • Prepare incident reports and ensure appropriate distribution to relevant personnel.
  • Maintain consistent communication with leadership regarding program status and developments.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through training, seminars, and conferences.
  • Serve as a mentor for students interning within the organization.
  • Adhere to agency policies and procedures while fulfilling daily responsibilities.
  • Perform additional job-related tasks as necessary to fulfill the role's responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Experience:
Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field is mandatory.
At least 3,000 hours of experience working with adults facing severe mental health challenges.
No travel is required for this position.
A training license is necessary.

Applicants with a Master's degree who are not yet certified or licensed may be employed in a Master's level position but can only practice within their scope until certification is achieved, expected within one year of hire. Probationary employment status will be maintained until certification is obtained.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
Professional demeanor and conduct, including friendliness and courtesy towards clients, colleagues, and vendors, are essential.
Strong communication, listening, writing, and organizational skills are necessary.
Ability to assist clients with daily living activities is required.
Familiarity with community resources available to consumers in the local area is beneficial.
Fluency in English and Spanish, both spoken and written, is preferred.
