Job Overview

As a Field Service Engineer specializing in Audio Visual (AV) systems, you will be an integral part of our Service Department, delivering expert support to clients through both remote assistance and onsite interventions. This role encompasses thorough testing, troubleshooting, and fine-tuning of AV equipment, ensuring peak performance both as standalone units and as part of a cohesive system, in line with the intended design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Engineering Department and Service Manager to guarantee that audio and visual systems operate according to specifications.
  • Engage directly with various manufacturers to diagnose equipment issues onsite and initiate the RMA process when necessary.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and commissioning of AV systems in both field and remote environments.
  • Adjust settings across different AV devices to ensure systems function as intended, taking into account variations in audio, video, displays, control, and networking.
  • Implement basic code and touch panel modifications under the guidance of the assigned programmer.
  • Load DSP files and customize audio systems to meet client specifications.
  • Stay informed about the latest technological advancements, firmware updates, and prevalent field challenges.
  • Identify and resolve known and emerging Audio Visual issues effectively.
  • Exhibit advanced troubleshooting skills for various video conferencing platforms including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Cisco, Polycom, and others as required.
  • Conduct field tests and address issues with AV control programs, hardware configurations, and control programs as per design specifications in a systematic manner.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regular exposure to construction site conditions; adherence to safety regulations and use of appropriate PPE is mandatory.
  • Ability to remain mobile and active for extended periods on construction sites.
  • Occasional climbing of ladders, navigating stairs, and lifting/moving materials weighing up to 40 pounds in construction settings.
  • Visual acuity for close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, along with regular use of keyboards and testing equipment.

Travel Requirements:

  • Frequent travel by car and occasional air travel will be necessary.
  • A valid driver's license and the capability to travel to various job sites are essential.

Education and Certifications:

  • Knowledge of networking and/or relevant certifications is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of directly related experience as a Field Engineer is required.
  • AVIXA CTS Certification is preferred.
  • AVIXA CTS-D or CTS-I certifications are desirable.
  • DSP certification from manufacturers such as Biamp, Shure, and QSC is advantageous.
  • Level one programming/configuration certification from Crestron and/or Extron is preferred.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, coupled with strong customer service capabilities.
  • Experience in field installation and/or system design is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with audio, video, and network-based systems and equipment is essential.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex Audio Visual technical challenges.
