Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Unit Coordinator to join our team at South Shore Health. As a key member of our nursing unit, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities


1. Patient Experience


a. Provide exceptional patient care and support, demonstrating empathy and compassion in all interactions.

b. Serve as a resource person for nursing staff, other clinicians, and support services, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.

c. Interact with patients and families in a professional and respectful manner, promoting a positive and inclusive environment.


2. Technology


a. Utilize various software applications and technology solutions to streamline work processes and improve efficiency.

b. Access and manage electronic health records, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.


3. Orders and Patient Flow


a. Coordinate and manage patient orders, ensuring timely and accurate processing.

b. Maintain accurate bed tracking and patient flow systems, ensuring efficient use of resources.


4. Unit Workflow


a. Coordinate and manage unit reports, ensuring timely and accurate completion.

b. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient charts, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.


5. Supplies and Services


a. Coordinate and manage supply ordering and inventory, ensuring efficient use of resources.

b. Collaborate with operations supervisors to maintain and update par levels and ordering procedures.


6. Safety and Quality


a. Foster a culture of safety and quality, promoting a safe and respectful environment for patients and staff.

b. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies, promoting a culture of excellence.


7. Professional Development


a. Serve as a preceptor for new employees, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.

b. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in meeting scheduling needs and unit requirements.


8. Compliance


a. Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards, promoting a culture of integrity and accountability.

b. Safeguard patient confidentiality and security, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and procedures.


9. Patient-Centered Care


a. Promote patient-centered care, respecting patient values, preferences, and needs.

b. Collaborate with patients and families to develop and implement care plans, promoting a patient-centered approach.


10. Cultural Competence


a. Demonstrate cultural competence, respecting and valuing diversity in patient populations.

b. Utilize resources and tools to promote cultural competence and sensitivity in patient care.


Requirements


High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Basic computer knowledge and medical terminology preferred.

Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately, with a strong focus on teamwork and collaboration.
