Job Overview

POSITION: Truck Driver
DEPARTMENT: Highway
SALARY: $1,796.19 Bi-weekly

The incumbent is responsible for operating various trucks and machinery for the purpose of maintaining and clearing county roads and rights-of-way.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operates a range of trucks and equipment for road maintenance, including but not limited to dump trucks, snowplows, front-end loaders, and more.
  • Handles the transportation and distribution of road materials such as gravel, sand, and asphalt, ensuring accurate documentation of load tickets.
  • Engages in the removal of debris, including weeds and storm-damaged trees, utilizing equipment like chain saws and mowers.
  • Assists in the maintenance of drainage systems and guardrails, including physical tasks such as lifting and concrete work.
  • Participates in traffic control and flagging duties at work sites as necessary.
  • Maintains and cleans vehicles and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Available for emergency response on a 24-hour basis.
Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or GED required.

Skills: Knowledge of safety policies and procedures, ability to operate various trucks and equipment, and physical capability to perform demanding tasks.

Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and the public, and to work independently or as part of a team.

Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License within 90 days of hire.

Work Environment:

The role involves significant physical exertion and exposure to outdoor conditions, including potential hazards associated with road maintenance activities. Safety precautions are essential to prevent injuries.
