Infection Control Manager

- Accountable for overseeing the daily functions of the Infection Prevention Program while also establishing and addressing long-term strategic objectives. Responsible for personnel management, departmental budget planning, and resource allocation, aligning with the goals and business aims of the designated areas. Acts as a key resource for staff within the department and across MaineHealth. Collaborates effectively with Quality Management, Administration, Medical Staff, Nursing teams, and various clinical and non-clinical departments.
- Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare-related field from an accredited institution.
- Licenses/Certifications: Active Registered Nurse license in the State of Maine. Comprehensive understanding of current patient care methodologies; Certification in Infection Control is mandatory.
- Experience: At least 3 years of professional experience in Infection Prevention. Proficient knowledge of infectious disease processes, surveillance techniques, epidemiological investigations, and strategies for preventing and controlling the spread of infectious agents and healthcare-associated infections. Familiarity with laws, regulations, and standards relevant to infection prevention practices.
- Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and systems knowledge essential for engaging in clinical initiatives and project management.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse range of hospital and non-hospital personnel at all levels. Excellent communication and leadership capabilities to guide individuals and teams through assessment, planning, and evaluation processes.
- Proficient in computer systems, including but not limited to Windows-based applications, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Epic.
