The purpose of this Veterinarian Technician position involves providing exceptional veterinary care to our patients and delivering outstanding customer service to their owners.

Salary Range

$35-$50 per hour, depending on experience and location.

This salary range may vary based on regulatory minimum wage requirements and applicable state or local laws.

Job Description

As a Veterinary Care Specialist at Petco, you will be part of a dynamic team that prioritizes animal welfare and customer satisfaction.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Greeting clients and patients, escorting them to exam rooms, obtaining vital signs, and documenting patient information in electronic medical records.
  • Assisting veterinarians with appointments, surgeries, and other procedures while taking direction from supervising veterinarians and hospital leaders.
  • Providing patient restraint, collecting laboratory samples, handling medications under veterinarian supervision, and maintaining accurate electronic medical records.
  • Scheduling appointments, communicating with clients, and updating inventory and client/patient records.
  • Preparing patients for surgical and dental procedures, monitoring anesthetized patients, and ensuring their safe recovery and discharge.
  • Providing in-hospital treatments, administering medications, and maintaining a clean and comfortable environment for patients.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • A college degree or equivalent education as required to become a Credentialed Veterinary Technician in your state.
  • At least one year of experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a related veterinary practice.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to learn new techniques and adapt to changing circumstances.
