Breast Imaging Specialist

CareSTL Health is in search of a Breast Imaging Specialist to proficiently operate radiological apparatus and conduct mammography examinations to aid healthcare professionals in identifying medical conditions. The Breast Imaging Specialist plays a crucial role in identifying breast tissue irregularities by executing mammographic imaging assessments and presenting findings for clinical evaluation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct high-quality radiographic and mammographic examinations safely and effectively for all patients.
- Perform general X-ray imaging in accordance with established radiological standards and regulations to ensure optimal patient care and safety.
- Digitally archive all necessary documentation into the designated database for analysis by the radiologist.
- Facilitate patient cooperation by alleviating concerns, clarifying imaging processes, detailing equipment usage, and addressing inquiries.
- Implement radiation safety principles to minimize exposure for patients, oneself, and others.
Additional Duties:
- Adhere to aseptic and sterile protocols to prevent contamination. Sanitize the examination area and equipment after each use.
- Operate imaging devices and ancillary radiology equipment, including computers, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and printers.
- Ensure a safe, secure, and healthy workplace by adhering to and enforcing established standards and procedures.
- Assist with patient registration, appointment scheduling, and the management of CDs and reports.
- Support colleagues in their responsibilities.
- Perform other tasks as directed by the Radiology Director and Chief Information Officer.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Completion of a Certificate from an accredited allied health education program recognized by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists.
- Certification as a mammography technologist, including 40 hours of specialized training, completion of 15 continuing medical education credits in the last three years, and having conducted 200 mammograms within the past 24 months.
Experience:
- A minimum of one year of experience in performing screening and diagnostic mammograms.
- At least one year of experience in a radiology environment.
Skills and Competencies:
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
Transportation Requirement:
- Possession of reliable transportation.
